At Van Sant Law, we are always busy developing new ways that we can connect with our clients, serve Georgia’s residents, and give back to our community in a meaningful way. We are excited to announce our newest community support project, an annual $1,000 educational scholarship, available to all veterans of the United States Armed Forces.
The Annual Veterans’ Scholarship is available to all U.S. military veterans attending a college or university who have an honorable discharge. A winner will be chosen based on the completed application form as well as a brief essay about their military experience, their educational goals, and their future aspirations.
The deadline for this year’s scholarship is June 15, and the winner of the scholarship will be announced annually at the end of June. The scholarship will be given directly to the winning veteran.
Requirements to be considered for scholarship:
- Applicant must be a veteran of the US Armed Forces with an Honorable Discharge.
- Send a copy of your military record (DD Form 214).
- Send a copy of your student ID or other proof of college enrollment.
- A 500-word essay outlining your experience in the military and your educational goals.

Why We Support America’s Veterans
Our nation’s veterans risk their lives and postpone their dreams for years, all in order to protect our freedoms, both within our borders and overseas. When they return home and exit the military, they should be welcomed with an outpouring of love, appreciation, and support.
However, all too often, despite a number of government programs to assist them, many veterans return to find that there are still far too many barriers to re-enter civilian life in a healthy, successful way. Literally millions of veterans struggle with service-related disabilities, ranging from traumatic brain injuries and amputations to depression and post-traumatic stress disorder.
Others struggle with homelessness and substance abuse issues. Many strive to get an education, job training, and stability, but face financial hurdles along the way.
We truly hope that our new scholarship program will help raise awareness of veteran issues while helping one outstanding veteran accomplish his or her educational goals, whether they need financial help with tuition, educational supplies, or living expenses.
