Forsyth Teen Killed in Monday Accident; Speed & Wet Weather Contribute

Van Sant logo

Winter driving conditions and wet weather are being considered contributors to the fatal accident on Hendrix Road near Highway 369 in Forsyth that killed a popular Forsythe student and athlete on Monday.

Seventeen-year-old Kyle Robins was driving a sedan that collided with a large pickup truck shortly after school let out at North Forsyth High. The driver of the truck was a school employee who was transporting three passengers. All received minor injuries but were treated and released from local hospitals.

Another student who was a passenger in Robins’ vehicle was taken to North Fulton Hospital in critical condition, but reports say he has since been released.

The Sheriff’s Office said speed and Monday’s wet weather contributed to the crash. This is a major reminder to everyone who drives in Georgia that wet roads can cause uncertain driving conditions.

At this time of year, it is important not only to slow down during inclement weather, but to make sure you have good tires. If you have teen drivers, make sure you take the time to check their tire status and to have their cars maintained. Brakes, fluids, wiper blades, and tires are all easy maintenance issues, but when left unattended, accidents can happen.
