Deadly Weekend Boating Accident

Van Sant Law

There are thousands of boating accidents every year resulting in serious injuries and death. So many factors that you can’t control can be the cause of these accidents. Collisions with other boaters often result in the most serious injuries. A high percentage of accidents involve alcohol and could have been avoided.

This weekend there was a serious accident on Lake Lanier in Georgia near the Dawson-Hall County line. According to the Georgia Department of Natural Resources, two boats collided Saturday night. Sadly this accident involved serious injuries and at least one death.

The spokeswomen for the Georgia Department of Natural Resources reported that Trevor Jones, 14, was found in the waters off Toto Creek Park and that at least two others were injured in the collision. Kaitlyn Smith, 13, of Social Circle, was flown by helicopter to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston, and Jack Struve, 57, of Cumming, suffered a jaw injury and was taken to North Fulton Hospital in Roswell.

After a severe boating accident, it is common for you and your loved ones to be dealing with severe emotional distress. We are always available to answer any legal questions you have that pertain to the personal injuries you or a loved one has received.
