For example, the owner of a dangerous dog needs to keep a locked and secure enclosure to restrain the dog on the owner’s property. There must be a clearly visible sign posted to warn of a dangerous dog at all entrances.
A dangerous dog is a dog that substantially punctures skin by teeth without causing serious injuries or aggressively attacks in a way that presents an imminent threat of serious injuries. A dog that kills a pet animal while off its owner’s property can also be classified as dangerous. Vicious dogs are those that inflict a serious injury on someone or inflict a serious injury when someone is trying to avoid the attack. Exemptions apply to police and military dogs, or situations in which the victim was trespassing or abusing the dog.
